Objective
To be a part of an organisation where I am able to contribute the best of myself as an eligible & efficient professional and team-worker in a technically challenging and highly competitive environment and to acquire knowledge in the process.
Work history
1. I have been employed at the Electronics & Communication Sciences Unit in of ISI, Kolkata in the capacity of a Project Linked Junior Research Fellow for the project on “Computational Intelligence Based Advisory System for Remote Welding”.
Synopsis:
In order for a remote welding controlled by a computer to take place, we calculated 30 important features from 3 consecutive frames captured by the infra-red camera mounted on the welding machine. These data are corroborated with the physically measured depths of penetration obtained. With the help of a feature selection program, the 10 features of the highest value were selected. These 10 feature values and the physically measured depths of penetration are then utilized to develop an Artificial Neural Network. This network is supplied with the frames in a real time environment from which it calculates the actual depth of penetration and with the help of another program suggests the change in current for a uniform welding process.
All the programs were indigenously developed in the laboratory and I was involved in all the developments.
2. Currently I am involved with a Bangalore based company called TutorVista that offers online education to students with various subjects. The students are mostly from USA. I am in the capacity of a Mathematics tutor for the grades IX to XII.

•Graduation level (Out house):
1. General lab survey at the Peerless Hospital, Kolkata.
2. Network management in the Linux environment (Organised by XLRI,Jamshedpur).
3. Development of a Perl program destined to calculate the total matches between two sequences in six reading frames and also the positions of the matches, hence leading to a preliminary idea on the relations of the 2 sequences; at DOEACC (J.U. Campus).
•Graduation level (In house)
1. Assay of Cell generated Nitric Oxide for Diagnosis of Blood Cancer (at B.C.E.T., Durgapur).
Synopsis:
Nitric Oxide (NO) plays an important role in cancer. Present investigation deals with assay of NO from both cancer blood & normal blood by spectrophotometric methods. It was found that the production of NO was reduced remarkably in case of cancer blood, whereas in normal blood it remained uninhibited. This investigation was aimed to be used for diagnosis of cancer. Assay of NO from different types of cancer blood (e.g. throat cancer, blood cancer) conducted simultaneously also showed similar results, which indicates that this diagnosis can be implemented for any cancer type. This process is novel because it does not require any complex series of clinical tests and is also free from any surgical overtones. Besides, it is also cheap, time saving and hence has potential to play an important role in cancer detection, even at very early stages.
•Post-Graduation level (In house):
2. Optimization of Alcohol production with the help of Artificial Neural Network and Genetic Algorithm (at BESUS, Shibpur).
Synopsis:
Increasing the productivity of yeast production is a necessity for the alcohol industry, which is one of the most widespread and economically viable industries of today. The consistent maintaining of growth pattern over the batches of commercial yeast through addition of water, molasses and other chemical ingredients is full of hassles to the manufacturer. If a beforehand knowledge could be obtained about the effect of various process parameters, it would be a lot easier to obtain the target alcohol yield. So an attempt to find a robust control system for yeast production has been made here using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Genetic Algorithm (GA).
The first phase of this study was to develop the database of yeast fermentation process, which was collected from a relevant industry. The next phase aimed to develop different ANN models correlating the processing parameters with the growth of yeast in the fermentation process. The ANN model was utilized as the objective function to optimize the fermentation process using GA. Then data mining techniques with the help of ANN and GA were utilized to understand the correlation between the process parameters and the growth of yeast.
It was found the ANN is effective enough to map the input- output space for a complex time series data of yeast production. The tool is capable to reveal the role of different variables influencing the yeast production. The ANN model can easily be used as an objective function for optimization of the yeast production using GA. Finally, the optimized solutions have shown designing possibilities of optimized yeast production.
